Olivia Newton-John fans fume as Grease star is snubbed from Emmy's memorial tribute

Olivia Newton-John fans were left raging after the Emmy Awards show failed to mention the Grease actress during their In Memoriam tribute.

Olivia died August 8, 2022, aged 73, after a long battle with breast cancer.

However, she was nowhere to be seen during the famous award show’s touching section dedicated to those that have died in the year since the last show.

The event was broadcast from Los Angeles on September 12 and featured tributes to Betty White, Bob Saget, Sidney Poitier and James Caan.

After the controversial snub, fans flocked to Twitter to voice their outrage over the unfair dismissal of the Hollywood legend.

One wrote: “How do you forget Olivia Newton-John? How dare you? She is and always will be an icon and you forgot her?”

Another added: “Olivia Newton-John not being included? Explain yourselves Emmys.”

An angered viewer also tweeted: “Ok, watching [the] Emmys and they just honoured many who have passed. Where was Olivia Newton-John?”

Although the Grease actress wasn’t included in the live broadcast, her name is on the Emmys’ online In Memoriam webpage.

Fans were furious at the snub and were left unimpressed with the Emmys, which is an awards ceremony for television stars.

Throughout her career, Olivia was involved in many TV shows including Sordid Lives: The Series, Bette, Ned and Stacey, and Murphy Brown.

Aside from her television roles she was an icon on the silver screen, well known for her appearance as Sandy in Grease, but was also cast in Two of a Kind, Xanadu, A Few Best Men, The Land Before Time and Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.

The legendary actress died peacefully at her Southern California home and was surrounded by her loved ones.

Her death came after she publicly fought cancer for decades and was diagnosed with the disease three times.

Her first diagnosis came in 1992, then 2013 and her time final was in 2017.

She was deeply philanthropic and was heavily involved in charity work throughout her career and lends her name to the Cancer Wellness and Research Centre at Austin Hospital.

She leaves behind a daughter.
