Hollywood star Olivia Wilde was lost for words when she was reportedly issued with custody papers from her ex-fiancé, Jason Sudeikis on stage at CinemaCon.
The actress, 38, was at the event promoting her latest film, Don’t Worry Darling, starring singer and actor Harry Styles, as well as Florence Pugh.
However, things took a drastic turn when Olivia was interrupted and handed an envelope on stage at the event held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Tuesday (April 27).
It’s claimed that Jason, 46, has hired a process server to deliver the legal documents to his former lover regarding their two children, Otis, eight, and Daisy, five.
Olivia was reportedly stunned when she was handed the envelope that was titled “personal and confidential” at the event.
Page Six claims that Jason had no idea that Olivia would be served the papers in such a public way.
When handed the envelope, Olivia said: “This is for me? Is this a script? Ok got it, thank you,” before adding: “I thought it was part of the presentation or a joke but then, that was the end of it.”
Olivia is believed to have carried on with her presentation as she plugged her latest flick appearing to be unphased by what had just happened.
A source told the US outlet: “Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis.
“Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved.
“He would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”
It had initially been reported that the envelope was filled with an unsolicited script that had been set to get Olivia’s attention by a fan.
However, staff at the event were left scratching their heads, wondering how the unnamed woman managed to get access to Olivia, let alone get on stage.
“We have never in the history of the convention had an incident where a delegate has approached the stage who was not authorized to be there. In light of this incident, we are re-evaluating our security procedures to ensure the safety of all our attendees,” said Managing Director of CinemaCon, Mitch Neuhauser.
Olivia and Jason split in November 2020, with the Masterminds star and Olivia not publicly commenting on the envelope in question.
Following their split, Jason told GQ that he had “reached rock bottom” before thanking Olivia at the Critics Choice Awards in March 2021 for her idea to turn Ted Lasso into the Apple TV hit show.
