Olly Murs rushed to hospital for knee surgery as 'devastated' star cancels tour

Olly Murs has been forced to cancel all of his upcoming shows as the star needed emergency surgery.

Sharing a photo of himself in a hospital gown, a cast and crutches, Olly told his fans that, unfortunately, his tour would need to be cancelled while he focuses on getting himself better.

He wrote: “I am gutted to have to write this message but unfortunately I’ve had to undergo major new knee surgery again this week.

“Been trying my best to avoid having it done but the op was needed and it went well.

“I’m recovering in hospital but it means I’m having to cancel all my summer shows this year whilst I focus on my rehab.

“Refunds will all be available from your point of purchase and please keep an eye out for any emails from your ticketing agent over the next few days.

“I’m so bloody sorry but my focus now is on recovering and I’ll keep you all updated on how I’m getting on! Stay cheeky catch you soon.”

Olly originally suffered the injury to his knee due to an accident on stage in August 2021 which resulted in a fragment of bone lodging itself into the back of his knee.

The chart-topper’s celeb pals were quick to send their regards to Olly after seeing his post.

JLS star Marvin Humes wrote: “Speedy recovery bro.,” while Lou Teasdale added: “Aw ols!”

Fellow singer James Bay continued the kind messages penning: “Get rested lad, all the best!”

Shocked fans also rushed to comment as they wished the the StarStruck host well.

One posted: “Gutted for you! Get well soon olls.”

Another added: “Speedy recovery, hope that you are better soon! Good luck with rehab.”

A fourth social media user said: “Get well soon Olly, big hug to you.”

Fans will still see Olly hosting his new ITV talent finding show StarStruck this weekend as shows are pre-recorded.

The cheeky Essex boy previously admitted his joy at being part of the Saturday night Primetime show.

He told ITV: “I’m really excited to be hosting a big Saturday Night show like Starstruck.

“It ticks all the boxes; it’s about feel good, family fun which is something we all need right now.

“The performances should keep us well entertained and I can’t wait to see whether anyone wants to be transformed into me for the night!”
