Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen 'full of hope' as she opens up on plans for future

Yorkshire shepherdess Amanda Owen spoke to presenter and gardener Alan Titchmarsh to discuss her plans for the new year on the farm.

The Our Yorkshire Farm star appeared on Alan’s show Love Your Weekend on ITV and said that she was “full of hope” to see what the new year would bring to Ravenseat.

Amanda lives on Ravenseat Farm in North Yorkshire with her husband Clive and their nine children.

The family achieved major success when the programme began broadcasting their lives back in November 2018 but Amanda has been publishing books under her alias The Yorkshire Shepherdess since 2016.

Alan began by asking: “How do you feel about 2022? I’m not talking about resolutions but about optimism and positivity,” to which Amanda replied: “I do feel that what we have been through over the last couple of years has kind of brought to the forefront, what I suppose we feel like we are champions.”

“It’s that what we’ve got on our doorstep and that new sort of newfound appreciation of what you can actually do from it, not just putting on your plate, but the whole experience of being in the outdoors, countryside and mindfulness, mental health at the end of the day.”

She continued with her positive outlook: “We’re feeding our minds and our bodies together, so yeah, I think it’s full of positivity and hope, definitely.”

She moved on to discuss her nine children and mentioned that she wants to “hand over control” to them in the kitchen, which she hopes will teach them life lessons.

Alan was impressed with the fact that she still cooks for her tribe of nine and asked about her workload.

“The beauty of the book is that all the recipes I’ve put in there are incredibly forgiving. I don’t do all the cooking myself, the whole idea is that I’m a little bit lazy and I like to hand over some control to the children.”

“The idea is that they take an active part in what goes on with the farm and with regards to catering.”

“In other words, they are learning how to cook, and that’s a good life lesson.”

She then spoke about her love for countryside living and admitted that the family have had their ups and downs due to their remote location, extreme weather conditions and fame: “You put yourself out there, and you pretty much can’t claw it back, I suppose.”
