Paul Gascoigne teary-eyed as he praises son Regan following Dancing on Ice stint

Ex-England footballer Gazza was spotted crying over his son Regan’s Dancing On Ice performance last Sunday after he secured himself as the bookie’s favourite to win the new series of the competition.

Paul Gascoigne’s 25 year old son Regan danced to Singin’ In The Rain from the 1952 romance musical of the same name with his partner Katrina Manta.

The couple awarded them an amazing score of 33.5 out of 40, a 0.5 advance on their score from last week. They came in second after Kimberly Wyatt and Mark Hanretty’s amazing score of 34 for their dance to The Greatest Show.

After Regan and Katrina performed, the cameras showed Paul sat in the audience with his daughter and Regan’s sister Bianca.

Paul wore a grey checked suit while Bianca went for a white top and a yellow suit jacket, with her long blonde hair curled and flowing down her shoulders.

As Holly Willoughby asked Gazza his thoughts, he confessed that his son was a good skater when he went as a child, before adding that he “really impressed” him.

Gazza then started to get teary as he praised his son which prompted Bianca to comfort him by putting her head on his shoulder and gave him a squeeze for comfort.

Regan made a slight mistake in his routine as he tumbled on a turn, but the judges reassured him not to worry. Ashley Banjo told him that he will ‘learn from it and grow from it’ while presenter Philip Schofield informed him of his father’s pride.

“Your dad was nearly in tears, he was loving it!” said Philip excitedly.

Gazza admitted his love for his son last week as he emotionally shared: “The moment you were born I was so proud. No doubt when you come on stage, I’ll be proud.”

“I’m getting emotional now! I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you,” before Regan and Paul shared an embrace.

Paul openly admitted how impressed he was with his son’s routine

Paul opened up further about his relationship with his son and thanked his ex-wife Sheryl for co-raising Regan: “He’s got a strong mum, she’s strong because she’s been with me.”

Sheryl and Paul were married in 1996 but after reports of physical abuse due to his mental health struggles and alcohol addiction, they were divorced in 1998.
