Paul O'Grady refuses to watch new Blankety Blank as he 'can't face it' after 'horrors'

Paul O’Grady says he hasn’t watched any of the new version of Blankety Blank.

The TV legend, 67, fronted the hit game show as drag queen Lily Savage in its heyday.

But he admits he’s not interested in the BBC1 revival, which is hosted by Bradley Walsh, 62.

Asked if he’s seen any of the shows, Paul told the Daily Star: “No. I don’t want the horrors.

“When you’ve done so many episodes of it… I can’t face it.”

Paul says it’s not just Blankety Blank he’s dodged — because he barely watches any telly these days. The presenter prefers to tune in to repeats of shows from years ago.

He said: “I don’t actually watch a lot of telly. “Everybody thinks I do, but I don’t.

“I watch the news, Father Brown and repeats of The Avengers – and that’s your lot.”

Paul was asked to return to Blankety Blank when it was revived by the Beeb in 2016, but he turned them down.

And he’s now warning there is no chance of him ever bringing back alter-ego Lily.

He said: “People say to me, ‘Why don’t you do Lily?’ “And I say, ‘Because I’m too f***ing old to be clacking around in a mini-skirt talking about punters’.

“I leave it to the young ones. They carry the flag now and I think they’re doing a great job… and they look fabulous.”

Paul still fronts ITV hit For The Love Of Dogs.

It comes after Paul admitted he talks to his pets, and refuses to rule out getting more after being told off for coming home with too many pups.

The presenter said: “I’ve got six pigs, three goats, a load of chickens, eight barn owls, five dogs, three sheep and six alpacas.

“I’m always chatting to them all. I’m sure they understand, especially the alpacas.

“I say ‘How are you girls?’. They give me a look and I’ll say, ‘Oh, it’s like that, is it?’. When other people are around they wonder who I’m talking to!”
