Piers Morgan slams Will Smith as he calls Oscars punch 'ugliest moment in history'

Piers Morgan has branded Will Smith’s Oscars outrage as the “ugliest moment” in the awards night’s history.

The former Good Morning Britain star shared his thoughts on the matter on social media after the whole world was left shocked and confused by the on-stage altercation, which happened on March 28.

Oscars viewers saw Will Smith step on stage after comedian Chris Rock made a G.I Jane joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, joking their hair was the same, bald.

However, Jada suffers from alopecia, therefore the joke did not land well and resulted in a punch landing on Chris’ face instead.

Piers since tweeted: “It was real. Just seen the uncensored footage. Will Smith hit Chris Rock for cracking a GI Jane joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith (who suffers from alopecia) – then twice screamed ‘keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth’ at him. Ugliest moment in Oscars history.”

Fans of the star flocked to the Twitter thread to share their thoughts on the matter.

One user said: “It’s staged lol. Will was smiling while walking back and Rock wasn’t rattled as much,” as a second asked: “How was he allowed to assault someone and return to his seat..?”

“How was Chris Rock allowed to make fun of someone’s health condition?” another answered.

A fourth explained: “Jada suffers from Alopecia (a hair loss condition) And Demi Moore did GI Jane 1997 and she was bald. Something needs to be left unsaid.”

A fifth wrote: “Doesn’t matter if it was televised or not, it’s a husband defending his wife, i fleecy anyone not to do the same”

It has since been revealed that the comic will not be filing a police report against the Hollywood actor.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has said that Rock has declined to file a police report, letting Will off the hook.

A spokesperson for the force said: “A spokesperson for the force says it is “aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards programme…[which] involved one individual slapping another.

“The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”
