Prince Harry branded 'brainwashed' as GB News star slams Netflix series as 'defamatory'

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl appeared on GB News to discuss Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming bombshell documentary.

The broadcaster didn’t hold back on her feelings towards the Netflix project and claimed what viewers see “may not be the real story or the truth.”

Speaking on to hosts Isabel Webster and Martin Daubney, Katie compared the trailer to the next series of The Crown before claiming the British media has “been behind them” since the beginning.

She said: “Watching that trailer almost looks like you’re watching a trailer for the next series of The Crown. There’s something that smacks of parody about all of this.

“It’s highly partisan. Okay, this may be their story. This may be their truth, but it may not be the real story or the truth.”

The royal correspondent added: “There are always two sides to a story. I was covering this story [Harry and Meghan’s relationship] in great detail for the British media as well as for Vanity Fair, I never saw a calculated smear campaign against them.

“The British media were behind them from the outset…but it turned because other stories started coming out, stories by the way that a lot of their press had tried to stem and curb.”

Katie went on to say she believes the documentary is “defamatory” before claiming the mention of Princess Diana was purposely made to entice audiences.

“I think this suggestion as well, of leaking stories and of planting stories is defamatory. Yes, it’s damaging, it’s not something that the Palace are going to take lying down,” she explained.

She added: “That juxtaposition of Diana…is clearly incendiary. It’s clearly designed to pull in, I think, American audiences who still have a real love affair with Diana. But actually, it’s just not the case.

Referring to Kate Middleton’s treatment in the early stages of her relationship to Prince William, Katie said: “To compare either of their treatments to what Diana went through is, in my opinion, it’s just wrong.”

Katie later voiced her belief that money was a large part of the documentary, saying: “this is all about making big bucks.”

She added: “They were paid a huge amount of money, so a docu-series about their philanthropic work was never going to cut it. But I do think that Harry and Megan are so in their own world, this whole narrative that they’ve built up of us against them.

“It’s like Harry’s sort of just been completely brainwashed and this is his truth.”
