Rachel Stevens has confessed her children have put “serious pressure” on her after they tuned in for the first episode of Dancing on Ice.
Last Sunday, ITV fans were blown away by the level of talent during the jaw-dropping opening show as the first half of the star-studded contestants took to the ice.
And while many celebs put in the extra hours this week, the S Club 7 star has revealed she has another reason to do well on the show.
Although the star took part in Strictly Come Dancing back in 2010, the 43-year-old didn’t give birth to her children until one year later, meaning they missed out on seeing their mum rocking the dance floor.
Now that her little ones are old enough to watch her in action, the singer has decided to take part in the talent show as she puts her dancing skills to the test with the added element of ice skating.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star and other publications, the noughties singer revealed how her children are looking forward to seeing her take to the ice for the first time with her professional partner Brendyn Hatfield.
She explained: “I was just saying earlier, this is the first time really because my eldest is 11 and Minnie’s seven.
“So it’s the first time that I’ve done anything that they can really come to and be a part of it.”
To get them excited for the popular ITV skating show, the entire family snuggled up on the sofa on Sunday night as they tuned in to support her fellow contestants and measure up the competition.
And it appears as though she’s got some high standards to beat as the blonde beauty confessed her children already have their favourite contestants on the show aside from her.
She went on: “I mean, they watched on Sunday night and they were just so excited now that it’s really tangible and they can see it and they’re getting to know everyone and getting their favourites.
“They were putting serious pressure on me. They’re like, ‘Mummy, you have to be [that good]’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, yeah’.
“They loved Kimberly [and] they loved Bez. So, yeah, it’s so cute that they’re really kind of getting into it.”
It comes after the starlet revealed how she wouldn’t be taking part in this weekend’s competition after she injured her wrist during training back.
A spokesperson for the ITV show said on Wednesday morning: “Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the Dancing on Ice medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday’s show.
“We look forward to her returning to the show next weekend.”
When asked about her injury, Rachel explained how the fall happened a couple of weeks before Christmas from “trying to push myself” too far.
She said: “It was when I was with my coach – this was a couple of weeks before Christmas – and yeah, I mean I fell quite a few times, as you do when you’re trying to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
“And yea, I just fell and it hurt. Obviously, I didn’t know what I’d done, but after that I had some incredible support.
“I went and got an x-ray done and I’ve had amazing medical advice from the team and this is healing really, really well.
“I’m just so grateful to still be able to be in it and be a part of it and we’re working super, super hard off the ice so that fingers crossed I can get on really, really soon.”
Dancing on Ice continues on Sundays at 6.30pm on ITV.
