To celebrate Hollywood actress Rachel Weisz turning 52, Daily Star is taking a look at her super-private marriage with James Bond star Daniel Craig.
The stunning couple first met back in their college days and then sustained a friendship for years.
However, in 2011, when they both starred in psychological thriller Dream House, sparks flew and their romance blossomed.
The stars are both successful actors and have a bunch of films under their belt, along with both having children from previous relationships and other famous exes.
However, let’s take a look inside their enviable marriage, and how they manage to thrive under the spotlight…
Private people
It says a lot about the level of privacy of their relationship when Rachel doesn’t even turn up to her hubby’s 007 film premiere in 2021.
However, those who know the couple were not surprised, as the pair have only ever done a handful of joint red carpet appearances over the years.
Rachel and Daniel are notoriously private and rarely discuss their relationship during interviews.
Rachel once told The New York Times: “Daniel and I are really similar. We’re just really cr*p at talking about our private lives.”
She has also explained why she likes keeping their partnership out of the spotlight to More magazine, saying: “He’s just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage.
“When you’re young, you tell your girlfriends everything. One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don’t have to share everything.”
Secret wedding
According to reports, Rachel apparently never wanted to get married, until she met Daniel.
Before their romance, she wasn’t keen on the idea of tying the knot, however, Daniel rapidly changed her mind.
In July 2011, only six months after they started dating, the pair got married on the quiet in New York.
The ceremony was so intimate that only four people attended, including their two older children.
Rachel told The Standard in 2018: “I never thought I would get married.
“It was not an ambition of mine. It was the opposite. I couldn’t relate to romantic comedies – marriage seems to be the whole point of them. Then it just happened, happily, at a more mature moment.”
However, she soon learned how much she loved being legally entwined with her handsome husband.
She once told the New York Times: “I’m very happy being married. Very, very happy. I love being Mrs Craig. I’m Mrs Craig on my chequebooks and passports and things.”
Homely hobbies
On the few occasions the couple have openly spoken about their personal life, it has appeared to be pretty normal.
“We talk about films that we love or plays. We love to go to see theatre and discuss things that we’ve seen,” Rachel told Good Morning America.
She added: “I love to cook. Daniel is also very good at it. We always enjoy trying out different kinds of cuisine and having fun with that.”
Family focus
The dynamic duo are that private, they still haven’t shared any details about their three-year-old daughter publicly, with her name, Grace, only recently being revealed.
They both also have children from their previous relationships – Rachel has a 15-year-old son with director Darren Aronofsky, Henry, and Daniel has a 29-year-old daughter with ex-wife Fiona Loudon, Ella.
Though not saying much about their young daughter, they have decided that she will be their only child together.
The actress told The Mirror in 2018: “I definitely know there won’t be another one.
“When I had my son I thought I’d have maybe two or three more. But the preciousness of a new life and family means so much more now I’m more mature and older.
“My son was a miracle, and it was an incredible experience. But doing it again now I’m older is very deep and very precious. I am very lucky.”
Inheritance issues
In August 2021, it was announced that Daniel would receive an eye-watering AUD$139 million (£73.7 million) to star in Netflix’s Knives Out sequels.
However, during an interview soon after the news was revealed, he confessed that his children will receive none of it.
He told Candis Magazine: “I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation. I think inheritance is quite distasteful. My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go.”
Happy Birthday, Rachel!
