Rebel Wilson has been the talk of the town in recent years after her dramatic weight loss.

The Pitch Perfect actress embarked on a “year of health” in 2020, which saw her lose an impressive five stone.

Several reports have suggested that Wilson, 42, followed a diet plan called the Mayr Method to help with her transformation.

However, the comedic star has come out and denied that she used any such diet plan on Instagram.

Sharing a screenshot of an article referencing her using the diet she said: “This was NEVER my diet. Please stop writing this stuff.”

Here’s how she actually lost the weight without the Mayr Method.

Rebel Wilson made several serious lifestyle adjustments in order to lose weight and transform her body.

The actress explained that before her weight loss efforts she would be “eating 3,000 calories most days”, but since she started focusing on her health in 2020 she switched to a high-protein diet instead.

Now, the actress eats fish, salmon and chicken breast to take in enough protein, while also reducing her sugar intake.

However, she admitted that she doesn’t always stick to her diet and lets herself give in to cravings once in a while.

She said: “I’m just trying to go for overall balance, overall healthy balance. I have this state of being, which is not my quote, but I go, ‘Nothing is forbidden.’ We’ll be like, ‘Should we get In-N-Out burger?’ And I’m like, ‘Nothing is forbidden’.”

She added: “I just might eat half of what I used to eat before. You know?”

Wilson revealed that the pandemic allowed her to slow down and de-stress, which helped cut down on her tendencies to overeat “because I wasn’t loving myself enough either. And it does come down to that self-worth and self-love”.

Since she debuted her stunning weight loss with an Instagram post, which showed her working out with a trainer, Rebel has shared several snaps showing her progress.

What is the Mayr Method diet plan?

Many reports have claimed that partially following the Mayr Method is what helped Rebel Wilson achieve her dramatic weight loss – although she has since denied this.

The Mayr Method, which was developed by Australian physician Dr Franz Xaver Mayr in the 1920s, is a diet plan focusing on eliminating certain foods to enhance digestive health as well as promote eating practices such as chewing food thoroughly – some followers chew their mouthfuls 30 times before swallowing.

Some rules with this diet are eating slowly, stopping eating when you’re satisfied, drinking between meals (but not with meals), and building in detoxes and the occasional fast.

While eating gut-healthy foods and practising intuitive eating can help with weight loss, experts don’t recommend eating practices like the chewing one suggested by the Mayr Method.
