Saturday Night Takeaway fans were convinced they’d caught a studio guest swearing on the ITV show – before the 9pm watershed.
Ant and Dec’s beloved Saturday night show returned to screens this weekend (March 5), and the action-packed show included pranks on Strictly star Craig Revel-Horwood and live performances from glam rock band The Darkness.
However, eagle-eyed viewers were distracted when a stunned member of the audience, Laura, was picked to join the Geordie hosts on stage and play a game called The Masked Humdinger.
The game involved members of Laura’s family, including her mum and daughter Holly singing in crazy costumes, just like the masked celebs normally do on ITV’s The Masked Singer.
The thing is, many fans thought Laura looked rather unimpressed to be chosen out of everybody in the live studio audience.
In fact, they were convinced they’d caught the show guest swearing on camera – mouthing the word “s***” in front of the nation.
Fans flocked to Twitter to point out the alleged language blunder before the watershed, when curse words aren’t allowed to be broadcast.
One wrote: “#SaturdayNightTakeaway Laura looks like she wants to kill whoevers responsible.”
A second commented: “Sh** I think she said lol #SaturdayNightTakeaway.” Lins asked: “Did Laura just say sh**? #SaturdayNightTakeaway,” adding several laughing face emojis.
A third added: “Laura is FUMING #SaturdayNightTakeaway.” CD13 added: “She just said sh** on camera #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
A fourth penned: “I love how mortified Laura is #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
A fifth agreed: “Laura’s raging isn’t she #SaturdayNightTakeaway.” Alex added: “She is NOT happy! #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
However, it became clear Laura enjoyed being up on stage with Ant and Dec, and the show turned emotional when Lauren was surprised by her grandsons whom she’d never met before.
Laura burst out into tears when she saw her young grandsons, Max and Logan, walk onto the stage, joined by daughter Holly.
Ant and Dec were joined in the studio by singer Paloma Faith, who acted as a guest announcer for the latest episode.
It seems she might have fallen victim to a second swearing blunder, though, because Ant and Dec apologised to fans for any swear words she might have used during the shock family reveal.
Ant said: “We’d like to apologise for any bad language Laura might have said during that, she was a bit shocked.”
