Actor Simon Rex has claimed that Meghan Markle has shown her gratitude as he rejected an alleged bribe to lie about them dating.
Hollywood actor, Simon, 47, claimed that he rejected a $70,000 (£53,000) alleged bribe to lie about getting intimate with the Duchess of Sussex, 40.
The actor says he was then sent a thank you letter from the former actress, which reportedly read: “It’s nice to know there are still good people.”
Simon took to Twitter on Tuesday (March 22) to confirm the news and commented on Meghan’s impeccable writing style.
He tweeted: “This is true. And I framed the thank you letter she wrote me. She has very nice penmanship by the way.”
Simon, who starred alongside Meghan in an episode of Cuts in 2005, claimed that an unnamed British tabloid allegedly offered him a massive sum to say that he had slept with the Duchess.
The actor said that during the time of the alleged bribe, money was tight but he still refused the offer.
Speaking to the Guardian, he said: “I was broke as f***! I really needed the money.
“But I’ll be on food stamps before I do that.”
It’s not known how Meghan – who resides in America – found out about the deal or if Simon told her himself.
Speaking on the Hollywood Raw Podcast in 2020, Simon opened up about his connection with Meghan and shared that their relationship was simply platonic.
He said: “It was just, like, we hung out once in a very non-date way. She was just someone I had met on a TV show and we got lunch. That was the extent of it.”
It comes after Meghan and Prince Harry said they would not return to the UK this month for the memorial service of Harry’s grandfather Prince Philip on March 29.
A reason was not given for their planned absence but Harry, 37, pursued a legal challenge against the Home Office after being told he would not receive personal protective security if he enters the country.
Harry and Meghan are raising two children, Archie, two, and Lilibet, nine months, at their Montecito home in California.
