Coronation Street star hayne Ward has spoken about becoming a dad for the second time as well as an exciting career venture as a film star.
The singer turned actor, 37, first burst onto the scenes in 2005 after being crowned the winner of season two of The X Factor, with his debut single, That’s My Goal, hitting Number One.
Since then, he’s gone on to release four Top 20 albums and a string of singles, with his most recent, Crazy In Love, being released just last year.
This year, the star has no plans to take things easy, with his second daughter on the way and a busy few months of work lined up.
Six years after welcoming his first child with his fiancée and former Hollyoaks star, Sophie Austin, the chart-topper struggled to contain his joy as he spoke about becoming parents for the second time.
He told me: “We’re literally watching all the canapés walk past like ‘what’s that’.”
Sophie added: “I wasn’t that careful with Willow, I think that’s because I was filming so much but this one, we’re really excited, Willow is really excited.”
“She’s just amazing, she runs in every morning and says ‘Morning mummy, morning daddy, just going to say hello to my little sister’, it’s nice to hear her say little sister because she’s now automatically a big sister,” he said.
Interrupting her husband-to-be, Sophie joked: “The one thing you haven’t done is sing to the baby!” but Shayne claims she “hasn’t listened” to him.
Following the news that The X Factor would not be returning, he said: “It never really goes away, we all know that, I think things go through a period of time and it rests for a little while but it’ll end up coming back, it always does.”
While Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh sat on the judging panel, he explained his ideal panel would consist of Michael Buble, Sharon Osbourne, “I love Sharon, she’s was so great with me, I love her,” he gushed.
“Buble, Carrie Underwood, Sharon,” he added.
Looking ahead to 2022, Shayne said his main goal is to become a dad again before working on more music and a film.
“I’m off to Nashville in March, writing, I have a film coming out around June or July, called Young Gun with Alexis Rodney, I’m excited, back on the music, back on the acting, it’s exciting to see the world again,” he beamed.
Actor Alexis has starred in Guardians of the Galaxy, Outlander and Kick Ass 2.
As the nation comes together to watch the final of The Masked Singer and finally discover who is behind the masks, he said: “[Heather Small] should have won it, I love it, I think it’s great.
“It was perfect especially through the lockdown for everybody, it was the bit of escapism, it’s one of those things, I love everyone’s answers when they do it and they say ‘I’ve done it for my kids’.”
Shayne continued: “It would be awesome, to sing songs every night and have people guessing it’s you, it’s pretty fun.”
