Strictly Come Dancing bosses are reportedly eyeing up a specific set of contestants for this year’s series – the royals and their extended families.
The upcoming series of the BBC show will mark its 20th anniversary and it’s been said that producers already have their their top targets.
The Queen’s granddaughter, Lady Louise Windsor, 18, and England world cup-winning rugby player Mike Tindall, 43, who is married to Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara are both thought to be on the radar.
Speaking to The Sun, a source revealed: “The team are doing all they can. In the year of the Platinum Jubilee, it has been a real priority.”
They added: “It would be an incredible coup to secure a royal.”
It has also been reported by The Sun that model and socialite Lady Amelia Windsor, 26, who is the granddaughter of Prince Edward – the Duke of Kent, is also among BBC bosses’ targets.
It seems the producers are also aiming for stars closer to home as they reportedly have their eye on Claudia Winkleman’s half-sister Sophie.
The actress, 41, shot to fame on Peep Show and has been married to the Queen’s second cousin, Lord Fredrick Windsor since 2009.
The news comes days after it was announced that Prince Charles and Camilla are reportedly planning to host an episode of Strictly live from Buckingham Palace when it returns later this year.
The royals had secret talks with the show’s bosses after the Queen gave her royal blessing for the filming to go ahead.
The episode is set to be shot in the Palace ballroom, with Charles, 73, and Strictly superfan Camilla, 74, set to potentially take part.
The judging panel for the upcoming series was confirmed last month, with confirmation that Bruno Tonioli will not be returning.
The judges confirmed for the 2022 series are Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Head Judge Shirley Ballas.
In addition to trio, former Strictly professional Anton Du Beke will be returning to his seat on the panel after his successful stint as a judge for the 2021 series.
