Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman opened up about his departure from judging shows like Strictly and Dancing With The Stars.
Speaking with Vanessa Feltz on TalkTV, Len revealed the he wanted to “get out while you’re ahead”, figuring he’d had a good run on the popular dance shows.
“The thing was I did Dancing With The Stars from 2005, so 17 years is quite a while to be doing that show, and I just thought it was a good time to go”, he said.

Len went on: “I hadn’t fallen asleep or dribbled or anything so I thought, ‘Get out while you’re ahead Lenny boy’.”
Having left both shows with no bad blood, Len thanked the programmes for their “lovely send off”.
“It was very, very nice and Dancing With The Stars gave me a lovely send off,” he told Vanessa. “As did Strictly when I left them in 2016. It was lovely and totally unexpected.”
The professional dancer told Dancing With The Stars viewers that the most recent run would be his last season as head judge on the show, confirming he’d be hanging up his ballroom shoes to spend more time with his family in the UK.
He said: “This will be my last season judging Dancing with the Stars.
“I’ve been on the show since it started in 2005, and it has been a huge pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful show but I’ve decided I want to spend more time with my grandchildren and family back in Britain.”
When former co-star Anton Du Beke, who currently judges on Strictly, was asked if he’d like to replace Len’s head judge spot on the Stateside version, he said he was only “one phone call away”.
“Could I be the transatlantic judge? Well, one’s only ever a phone call away,” Anton told Good Morning Britain viewers in November.
