There is much speculation each year about how much each contestant banks to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.
But rather than fees varying depending on how famous the celebrities are, like on Big Brother or I’m A Celeb, it appears that each person gets paid the same.
And the further into the competition they get, the more money they amass.

But it’s not the same for the professionals – it’s believed the pro dancers all get paid a flat fee regardless of how long they appear in the show.
So even if they are eliminated on week two, they still get paid the widely reported amount of between £35,000 and £50,000.
This seems the fairest way despite some dancers having higher profiles than others. For instance, Giovanni Pernice is a household name thanks to things like his off-screen romance with Love Island star Maura Higgins.
However, dancers like Carlos Gu are far lesser known.
The dancers are also free to top up their income with other performances, brand deals and the Strictly tour and it’s said that Oti Mabuse actually coined almost half a million pounds a year while on the show.
The dancers can also command up to £3,000 per social media post – so it all adds up!
One of the show’s hosts, Claudia Winkleman, is said to be the highest-earning woman at the BBC with a yearly salary of £1 million.
Claudia, 50, has other gigs at the BBC though so it’s reported Strictly earns her about £350,000 per series.
Similarly, co-host Tess Daly also earns £350,000.
But what about the judges?
When Shirley Ballas joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, the judge was reported to be paid £180,000 for the series.
However, since then, her pay for Strictly has risen to a huge £500,000, according to a report in The Express – that’s a massive £320,000 pay rise.
One of the original Strictly Come Dancing judges, Craig Revel Horwood has reportedly earned £200,000 for each appearance on the series.
In a 2009 interview with The Financial Times, Craig said: “Strictly has changed my life financially,” adding, “my assets and turnover are worth more than £1m, but I don’t have any plans to slow down.”
Anton Du Beke has had a huge pay rise on Strictly Come Dancing since moving from Professional Dancer to a member of the Judging panel.

Having earned £65,000 per series a professional dancer, he has now more than doubled that, earning £120,000 per series as a judge instead.
Although he doesn’t take part in the Strictly tours, he does perform at Alton Tower’s Dancing with the Stars weekend, earning a further £12,000, in addition to tours with dancing partner Erin Boag.
Motsi Mabuse joined the Strictly judging panel in 2019 and is reported to earn around £200,000 per series.
She has also featured on the German version of Strictly Come Dancing, called Let’s Dance, as a judge since 2011, as well as performing as professional dancer and running her own dance school, earning a reported total of £350,000 per year.
