Talking about an embarrassing show moment, he said: “I did a terrible rumba I don’t know if you could call it a rumba, it was a rum without the ba.
“It was the stiffest thing I’ve ever seen in my life and I thought it was my time to go but for some unknown reason the judges saw potential and kept me on that week.”
He also revealed that he hadn’t spoken to his professional dance partner Kristina Rihanoff for over six years
The dancing duo was the first runners-up on the show and came in second place after they battled it out in the grand finale, but were beaten by the late Caroline Flack.
Speaking about his partner, he said: “I haven’t spoken to Kristina in at least six years. I might have bumped into her or something.
“When you’re in the bubble you talk every day and you’re like ‘we’ll be friends forever and be like call me any time’.
“Of course, if she reached out or visa versa then, or we’d be like happy birthday then we get a little message but we don’t speak on a daily basis or whatever.”
Simon is best known for being in the pop group Blue which comprises of Simon, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Antony Costa.
The group are back with brand new music and an epic stadium tour which will kick off later this year.
Simon added: “We’re busy doing our thing couple of songs and touring in December for an arena tour.
“Yeah, looking forward to it – expect to see some memorabilia, some tracks from the past, we are going through the setlist at the moment.
“We’re not sure exactly what it will be but there will be a few tracks from the brand new album Heart & Soul which is out on October 28.”
