Strictly's Dan Walker teases top secret project just months after Channel 5 move

Dan Walker has urged fans to “keep Friday nights free” as he teased his new upcoming “top-secret” project after he moved over to Channel 5.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star,45, took to his Instagram account where he shared a black and white selfie of himself in the back of the car with a pair of black sunglasses on as he smiled to the camera.

In full view of his 276k followers, the newsreader wrote: “Off to a top-secret location to start filming a very exciting new project for @channel5_tv.

“Details soon… I hope you like it. Keep your Friday night’s free [winking emoji]” he added.

The dad-of-three was soon flooded with congratulatory messages in his comments section from his loyal legion of fans online.

One user penned: “That’s it I’ve cancelled everything on a Friday for a year based on this tweet…..” as another suggested: “Walking with Walker? Join Dan as he steps out around the British Coast…”

A third chimed in with: “Sounds exciting Dan. When is your new book out – loved the last one. Best wishes.”

It comes amid reports that the TV presenter will go digging for treasure with Michaela Strachan and Raksha Dave in Channel 5’s brand new series, Digging For Treasure.

Back in May, Dan left the BBC after 13 years when he signed a new deal with the rival media company.

Speaking about his career update, he shared a heartfelt video on social media thanking all of his work colleagues at BBC Breakfast.

He said: “I’ve never ever been motivated by money in any job that I’ve ever taken, and even though I’ve loved working at BBC Breakfast and everybody who works on the show, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with a brilliant team at Channel 5.

The broadcast journalist had hosted the beloved morning show since 2016 alongside Louise Minchin before his position was taken over by Jon Kay.
