Strictly's James Bye leaves dance partner Amy in tears as he talks 'worst experience'

Strictly Come Dancing star James Bye left his dance partner Amy Dowden in floods of tears as he opened up about his time on the BBC One show.

The EastEnders star was the latest celeb to be eliminated from the dancing competition following a dance-off against Fleur East on Sunday.

After their exit, the pair appeared on the spin-off series Strictly: It Takes Two on Monday (October 31), where James spoke about “one of the worst experiences” of his life.

During their chat, host Rylan Clark asked James about what was going through his mind when he was confirmed for the dreaded dance-off.

He said: “It’s up there with one of the worst experiences of my life, especially when you know you’ve got to go against Fleur East.

“She knows what she’s doing. She’s very, very good and I love her to bits. It’s horrible to then feel like I’m competing with someone who I’ve got really close with, who I know is such a lovely person and I know I’m going to go.”

Reflecting on their exit James said: “I’ve had such an amazing time but Amy is what Strictly is all about.”

James then went on to praise his dance partner, reducing her tears.

He said: “I have never worked with anybody in any line of work I’ve ever had who loves their job as much as Amy does.

“She is absolutely obsessed with it.”

The Welsh dance pro started to well up and reached for a box of tissues in the studio as James continued: “She gives this show every part of her body. She is such a lovely human being. She will be in my life forever.

“This is what Strictly is about and they are lucky to have her,” he added.

The emotional moment on It Takes Two comes as James broke down in tears on Sunday night’s show, when host Tess Daly said his young sons would be proud of him.

Shortly after James was announced as the latest celeb to leave the show, Tess said: “You said when you came to us that you had two priorities, one was to have fun and one was to make your three boys proud.”

“Don’t say that, Tess,” James pleaded before breaking down in tears.

“You have done that,” Tess continued as James added: “Don’t say that.”
