Strictly Come Dancing star James Bye has confessed that Sunday night’s dance-off was one of the “worst experiences of his life” as his dance partner Amy Dowden was left crying after their untimely exit.
The couple who recently became the latest evictees from the BBC competition appeared on the spin-off show It Takes Two to discuss their departure.
But when host Rylan Clarke asked them about ending up in the bottom two, the EastEnders actor admitted that it wasn’t a great feeling going up against Fleur East and her professional dance partner Vito Coppola.

Discussing the dance off, James said: “It’s up there with one of the worst experiences of my life.
“Especially when you know you got to go up against Fleur East. You know what I’m saying, she knows what she’s doing.
“She’s very very good and I love her to bits and that’s the other thing, it’s horrible to have to then feel like I’m competing with someone who I’ve got really close with and who I know is such a lovely person and I know I’m gonna go,” he explained.
Later on in the interview, James sang Amy’s praises which bought her to tears.
The actor said: “Amy is what Strictly is all about.
“I’ve never worked with anybody in any line of work I’ve ever had who loves their job as much as Amy does.”
He added: “She gives this show every part of her body, she is such a lovely human being. You will be in my life forever. She is amazing!”
Seeing the couple’s emotional display, fans headed over to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One person wrote: “That’s got to be one of the nicest things I think anyone has ever said to their professional partner when they have left the competition. Not surprised Amy started crying! Got me going too!”
Another chimed: “Yes James!!! What he said about Amy is so true, she is everything #Strictly is about.”
Meanwhile a third said: “Aww, lovely words from James about Amy on #ittakestwo. She seems a genuinely gorgeous person.”
James and Amy scored 27 points on Saturday during the annual Halloween themed show.
