The Apprentice favourite Thomas Skinner has revealed a shocking insight into the audition process which sees hopefuls forced to line themselves up by who’s the most attractive.
The brutal interview process requires dozens of strangers, all desperate to be chosen for the next series of the BBC show, to line themselves up from “ugliest to prettiest” as producers watch their conduct.
The London-born star and former market trader said: “Before you go on the show you go through the interview stages and you’ve got people from all over – from London, from Ireland, from Manchester, and you’re in this room and they told us to line up from ugliest to prettiest.
“And you don’t know who these people are and you’ve got people arguing about who’s the prettiest,” explained Thomas
Dubbing the task “carnage” Thomas claims the wannabes became argumentative about who was the most attractive.
“It’s carnage but there were people arguing saying ‘I’m much better looking,’” he added.
The new dad shot to fame on the BBC series back in 2019 and has continued to build a successful business and appeared on a string on TV shows including 8 out of 10 Cats and Celebrity Masterchef.
During an exclusive chat with the Daily Star, Thomas admitted that he had to sell some prized possessions in order to keep his business running during the Covid lockdown.
He said: “When I did well after the show I bought things I didn’t need.
“I was a new business owner and had no capital behind me. I had not put the foundations in place to carry on for six months with no trade.
“So like a doughnut I bought myself an expensive watch and I had staff at this point and I didn’t want to lose my staff, so I sold the watch to pay everyone’s wages to get us through the lockdown.”
Thomas, who now runs a mattress company, also revealed he told a producer from the show to “f*ck off” after they rang him to tell him he had a place on the show – because he thought it was a prank call
When asked about the incident, he said: “I thought it was a wind up. I never thought in a million years they’d picked me. I thought why would they pick me? I thought it was one of my mates having a giggle. So I’ve gone shut up, boom, put the phone down. And they rung me straight back and no, no really, you’ve actually made the show. I said ‘really?'”
