The Apprentice fans fuming over Sophie's 'rude' gesture as she's fired

Sophie Wilding became the latest contestant to get the brutal boot from Lord Sugar on The Apprentice, but she upset fans with the way she left the boardroom.

Normally, when a candidate is fired on the BBC business show, they thank Lord Sugar for giving them the opportunity of a business partnership with him.

The entrepreneur then reflects on their firing in famous taxi scene as they get driven home.

However, Sophie appeared to savagely snub Lord Sugar by not thanking him, and she simply stood up and walked out of the room.

Fans were clearly upset by Sophie’s exit, and they immediately rushed to Twitter to comment on the moment.

One said: “Sophie did not say thank you for the opportunity to Lord Sugar…Tut Tut! #TheApprentice.

A second commented: “Ooh Sophie what no, thank you Lord Sugar for the opportunity or Karen and Tim. Bit sulky #TheApprentice.”

A third asked: “Did Sophie even say “thanks for the opportunity” babe dipped quickly #TheApprentice”.

A fourth weighed in: “Wow! Nick escaped! Sophie didn’t say thanks for the opportunity. Rude #TheApprentice.”

A fifth added: “Sophie didn’t say thanks or goodbye that’s how you know she’s bad vibes #TheApprentice.”

Thursday’s task (February 17) saw the teams whisked off to the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park and tasked with designing and selling electric driverless PODs to corporate clients.

Sophie’s team decided to create a glam party-POD called the StarPod, which featured glitter walls, pink benches and karaoke machines.

However, Lord Sugar slammed their interior design as “tacky”, and the candidates clashed over the design of the POD.

Sophie’s team, Team Diverse, managed to bag £535k, but it was smashed by Akeem’s Team Infinity, who bagged over £1 million.

Sophie brought back her teammates Akshay Thakrar and Nick Showering into the boardroom – but after Lord Sugar made his decision, it was cocktail bar owner Sophie’s time to leave.

Speaking to Daily Star about the moment she was fired, Sophie said: “It goes really fast. When you’re in the final three, it goes so quick.

“You’re trying to think of things in your head and it’s just exhausting as well, because you sit there and you feel like, if you don’t want me to stay, just let me go.

“You hope that your skills and what you put on the table speaks volumes also, but I honestly don’t know how long it is in the final three. It feels like a couple of minutes but I know it’s not.”
