The Chase fans were left distracted after they saw one of their favourite TV heroes brought to life on the show.
Viewers of the hit ITV quiz show were stunned on Friday (March 4) when they saw hopeful contestant Joel introduced by host Bradley Walsh.
Joel had fans of the show taking to Twitter as they couldn’t believe their eyes when they spotted that Joel was a dead ringer for The Simpsons character Ned Flanders.
The eagle-eyed viewers shared their surprise as they saw Joel step up to answer questions before going head-to-head with Chaser Mark Labbett.
And he did look uncannily like one Simpsons legend in particular as he introduced himself to viewers sitting at home.
Joel successfully challenged The Beast and made his way back to the team ready to head to the final challenge.
Taking to Twitter one viewer posted: “Loving Ned Flanders’s on #TheChase.”
Another added: “Ned Flanders is on #TheChase.”
A third quipped: “Joel looks like Ned Flanders and Groucho Marx’s lovechild #TheChase.”
A fourth social media user continued as they tweeted: “Ned Flanders on 1st. #TheChase.”
A fifth laughed: “Joel has definitely taken some style inspiration from Ned Flanders he’s a dead ringer for the guy.”
Joel, 34, was joined by teammates Rebecca, 40, Philippa, 19, and Paul, 57 as they one by one faced The Chaser.
Sadly for Paul, it wasn’t meant to be as he was caught at the final hurdle by Mark before he could secure his place in the final chase.
However, Rebecca, Phillipa and Joel all made their way to the final chase and with an impressive display of teamwork easily saw off The Beast to take home an impressive £17,000 jackpot prize.
Yesterday viewers were convinced that they recognised another contestant on the show from somewhere else.
Viewers of the show were stunned when musician Paddy struck a striking resemblance to Albert Gladstone Trotter, better known as popular BBC sitcom star Uncle Albert from Only Fools and Horses.
