It’s been quite a dramatic year for UK residents and it’s fair to say many of the biggest moments have been captured on live TV.
Over the past 12 months alone, Queen Elizabeth II – the longest reigning monarch in British history – died at the age of 96, a total of three Prime Ministers stepped into office, and the England women’s team won the European Championships.
But it hasn’t been plain sailing for celebrities either, with viewers often shielding behind a cushion as they watched some of the most awkward moments unfold on TV.

As the year comes to an end, Daily Star has taken a deep dive inside the most cringeworthy moments that have hit the airwaves over the past 12 months.
Will Smith’s Oscar slap
In March, the biggest names in Hollywood gathered for the 94th Oscars as actors battled it out to take home the coveted award.
But what would have been another usual star-studded event turned into one of the most explosive moments of the academy award’s history.
Viewers were shocked when King Richard star Will Smith took to the stage during Chris Rock’s monologue and smacked the comedian across the face.
The incident occurred moments after the stand-up comic made a joke that referenced Jada Pinkett Smith’s recent hair loss, which is a result of the medical condition alopecia.
One of the comments he made was directed towards the actress, to whom he said: “Jada, I love ya, GI Jane 2 – can’t wait to see it!”
He was then seen storming up on stage where he hit him across the face before returning to his seat and shouting: “Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth!”
Later that night, The Fresh Prince star was confirmed as the winner of the Best Actor category where he later addressed the controversial altercation.
Camilla Cabello boob flash
Another hilarious piece of TV history for the archives includes Camila Cabello’s mortifying wardrobe malfunction live on The One Show.
The Cuban-American singer joined Alex Jones, Jermaine Jenas and Alan Carr on the BBC show back in March to chat about her latest musical collaboration with Ed Sheeran.
In the live video chat, the hitmaker was attempting to show the comic her impressive dance moves when her flimsy top slipped showing her bare breast.
Host Alex attempted to brush the awkward interaction under the rug as she joked that she “didn’t know what she’d seen” but the comedian’s face was a picture as he placed one hand over his mouth after the red-faced moment aired.
Camila told everyone at her home studio: “I actually just undid my pants because I had a sandwich, you know I got to make it easy for myself” as she took to her feet.
But as she swooped her hair away from her chest, she accidentally brushed her shirt off her shoulder and flashed millions of viewers at home as well as the cast and crew in the studio.
Being the professional that she is, the Señorita singer simply carried on with her routine while amending her clothes, adding: “Whoops, I just flashed you. I hope you didn’t see a nipple!”
Alex interjected with: “Erm, well you know what there was a bit of a wardrobe malfunction, I don’t know what I saw but there was a flash of something.”
Alan was quick to point out: “Cyber flashing. You’ve just done an item on it, what are the chances.”
Sally Nugent flashes racy pic
Later on in the year, Sally Nugent delighted fans with her hilarious TV blunder on BBC Breakfast into the latest episode of the current affairs programme.
The 51-year-old and her co-host Jon Kay were unpacking the morning’s headlines when she experienced an unfortunate blunder as the brunette beauty accidentally revealed a racy snap on air.
While revealing a Leicestershire property that came with a whole host of lavish accessories, the broadcaster held up the report which exposed a not safe for work image to viewers everywhere.
On the back of the article was a lingerie model posing in her black bra and knickers, leaving her co-host red-faced during the show.
Realising her mistake, Sally raised an eyebrow and grimaced at the mishap before quickly turning the report over which showed the house for sale,
As Sally carried on, the presenter joked: “I don’t think anybody is talking about the back garden. There’s something on the back of the page, don’t worry, just carry on.”
Holly and Phil ‘queuegate drama’
On September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 less than two years after the death of her husband Prince Phillip.
Following her passing, royalists up and down the country were invited to pay their respects to the late monarch while her coffin was lying-in-wait inside Westminster Abbey.
While the country mourned the loss of the longest-reigning monarch, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were invited to take the VIP queue which was separate to the public line where residents were waiting more than 24 hours to see the late Queen.
The dynamic duo vehemently denied claims that they had “jumped the queue” explaining they took the VIP queue in order to cover the proceedings for people who couldn’t make the trip down to London.
But despite their apology on This Morning, the presenting duo received a wave of backlash from fans online after famous footballer David Beckham waited almost 23 hours to pay his respect just hours before their visit.
Tony Adams Full Monty routine
One of the biggest names in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up was none other than famous footballer Tony Adams who was partnered up with Katya Jones.
It’s fair to say the dad-of-one didn’t disappoint as he sent fans wild with his daring Samba to You Sexy Thing from the 1997 film The Full Monty during Movie Week.
As he performed the hilarious routine, the Arsenal player slowly stripped off on stage, with his partner ripping off his shirt before she pulled down his trousers to reveal some sparkly red underwear.
By the end of the performance, the star received a standing ovation from the live audience including his former team member David Seaman who was watched on the front row.
If he could have won the trophy for the most entertaining dance as fans flooded to Twitter to fawn over the hunky sportsman online.
Chris Moyles drops jungle stars
Radio presenter Chris Moyles delighted fans throughout his time in the bug-infested jungle as he struggled through the challenging Bushtucker Trials.
But what fans weren’t expecting was for the TV personality to struggle quite as much as he did on the ITV reality show.
Arguably one of the most memorable moments on the TV show was when he took part in his first trial, titled Boiling Point.
He was tasked with retrieving four spanners which he would need to unscrew 11 stars hidden in the boiler room and underground pipe network in order to feed the hungry celebrities in the main camp.

At the end of the challenge, Chris managed to retrieve one star as he struggled not to shout at the Geordie double act as fans were left it stitches at his hilarious antics online.
