The One Show viewers were left in stitches after host Jermaine Jenas showed fans an abandoned square despite telling them the area was a “hive of activity”.
As the BBC aired its special Royal Jubilee episode of the chat show, Jermaine took fans live outside Buckingham Palace to get a glimpse of the area ahead of the special event.
But his commentary brought some confusion as fans feasted their eyes on a seemingly abandoned space, in stark parallels to his claims.
“#TheOneShow Can someone ask that hive of activity to slow down?” joked one viewer.
“If it’s ‘a hive of activity’ Jermaine why do you appear to be the only person there? #theoneshow #oneshow,” quipped another.
A third added: “Sorry I’m confused it’s dead mate hardly a hive of activity!”
Thousands of beacons will be lit across the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and the Commonwealth.
Elsewhere on the episode, Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry showed Brits how to make a classic British Trifle, however, fans were quick to comment on how complex the recipes was, saying “ain’t nobody got time for that.”
“I’ve given birth in less time than it takes to make this trifle. #TheOneShow,” blasted one viewer.
A second commented: “Ain’t nobody making that bloody trifle from scratch… #TheOneShow,” posting a gif of someone proclaiming “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”
To mark the historic event, the UK has a huge array of public events planned to celebrate including parades, street parties and an extra Bank Holiday.
Across the UK, millions of people are expected to gather with family, friends and neighbours to mark the special occasion.
The National Lottery’s Big Jubilee Street Party will follow the beacon lighting, and a Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday hosted by Kirsty Young and Roman Kemp. The celebrations culminate with The Platinum Jubilee Pageant which will air Sunday, June 5 on BBC at 1pm.
