The Parent Trip actress Joanna Barnes died at the age of 89, as tributes pour in.
The longtime Hollywood actress died Friday at her home following what was described as a lengthy illness by friend Sally Jackson.
The actress appeared in both the original and remakes of The Parent Trap.
In the original 1861 version of the hit comedy, she played Vicky Robinson, the wicked gold digger, out to sink her claws into the twins’ dad.
Then, in the 1998 remake starring Lindsay Lohan, she played Vicki Blake, the mother of that actress who played the gold-digging girlfriend.
Her other film credits include Auntie Mame, Home Before Dark, Spartacus and The War Wagon.
Fans have since left heartfelt tributes on social media.
One wrote: “Another Hollywood angel, rip.”
Another penned: “RIP Joanne, i loved both of The Parent’s Traps’.”
A third said: “May she RIP, another great actress!”
Joanne also appeared in a number of television series, including 21 Beacon Street and The Trials of O’Brien.
The veteran actor was born in Boston in 1934 and grew up in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Joanne moved to California and soon drew audiences’ attention by playing the ditsy persona Gloria Upson in the 1958 film Auntie Mame.
She was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance in the hit film.
She is survived by her two sisters, Lally and Judith, and her stepchildren, John, Laura and Louise.
