The Repair Shop star Jay Blades' DIY show axed by BBC after two series

Daytime show Jay Blades’ Home Fix has been axed by the BBC.

Execs have pulled the plug on the format after just two series in a shock move.

Host Jay told the Daily Star Sunday: “We aren’t doing any more of it.”

The decision is a blow for Jay and his co-host Dom Chinea.

But Beeb chiefs this weekend said it wanted to make way for new shows.

A spokesperson told us: “We loved working with Jay and Dom on Home Fix, and after two brilliant series we’re making space in the schedule for new commissions.”

The show saw Jay and Dom give viewers handy DIY tips.

It has been axed despite being a big hit with viewers.

One viewer said: “There are lots of programmes I won’t watch because they are like a modern day version of the stocks.

“Luckily Jay Blades’ Home Fix is the perfect antidote – 30 minutes of positive, inspiring, cringe-free viewing.”

Another said: “Started to look at bits and pieces in my house in a whole new way – so many ideas!”

Jay and Dom are now working on a new show together.

Jay will remain on the BBC with The Repair Shop for a number of years

They have become two of the BBC’s biggest stars in recent years thanks to the success of their show The Repair Shop.

Jay said: “There is more stuff coming. Watch this space. We are working on a different show. It will be positive.”

A BBC spokesperson confirmed the plans and said: “We’re continuing to work with Jay and Dom on projects we’re sure viewers will enjoy.”

The pair will also continue starring on The Repair Shop for years to come.

Jay added: “We were commissioned for The Repair Shop for three more years and if people keep watching us, we’ll be on for another three years after that.”
