This Morning fans 'in tears' as Holly and Phil make major show announcement

This Morning fans were left “in tears” as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield made a major show announcement at the end of Thursday’s episode (September 15).

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the ITV programme was pulled from air last Friday.

The show returned earlier this week with several special editions paying tribute to the late monarch and on Thursday’s show, Holly and Phil confirmed This Morning would once again go off air.

At the end of the episode, the presenters informed viewers of the schedule change.

They confirmed Friday and Monday’s shows had been cancelled in favour of rolling ITV News coverage amid a 10-day period of national mourning.

The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday, September 19 – with This Morning returning to screens on Tuesday, September 20 with live coverage of the emotional event’s aftermath.

Holly said: “That’s it for us this week.

“Tomorrow, we’ll be off air as ITV News will have special coverage of King Charles’ visit to Wales.

“We’ll be back on Tuesday to reflect on Her Majesty’s funeral.”

Signing off, Phil also paid a sweet tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II which left viewers at home “in tears”.

The visibly emotional presenter added: “So, there’s just one thing left to say: thank you for everything, Ma’am.”

His words were followed by a montage of the Queen which left viewers at home feeling emotional.

One viewer said: “The goodbye segment of the Queen at the end of This Morning has me in tears.”

Another commented: “Wow This Morning just made me cry over the memories of Queen Elizabeth II.”

Meanwhile, a third replied: “I’ve got goosebumps and tears.”

A fourth viewer commented: “What a way to end the show beautiful photos followed by a beautiful song.”

“Lovely montage that was,” a fifth viewer concluded.

This Morning will return to screens at 10am on Tuesday, September 20.
