This Morning gardener Daisy Payne's life – Tragic loss, no bra confession and glam snaps

Daisy Payne is set to become an other gardening icon, after rising to fame on ITV talk show This Morning.

After recently confessing that Groundforce legend Charlie Dimmock was one of her heroes, it is no surprise that Daisy Payne is fast becoming one of the most talked about TV gardeners in recent years.

After joining This Morning in 2021, she has regularly delighted viewers with her fascinating gardening segments – as well as showing off her sensational style in a number of fabulous dresses.

But how much do you know about the gardening expert?

Here, Daily Star takes a look inside This Morning gardener Daisy Payne’s life.

Home life and sweet pooch

Daisy Payne, 24, has given fans into her home life on Instagram, which currently boasts over 17k followers.

Her social media regularly sees the star posing for a series of stunning snaps in gorgeous gowns, including a beautiful cream summer dress with thigh high split – which showed a pair of wellington boots underneath.

The star often shares sweet snaps of her dog Ernie too, whose adorable appearances are guaranteed to brighten your social media timeline.

However, Daisy shared an emotional post of Ernie after her pooch was sad following the death of her family’s dog Bertie.

Posing with Ernie, Daisy asked her followers for advice on how to cheer him up, saying in the caption: “His little eyes look sad & he’s just not himself.

“Other than persuade my parents to get another dog – not to replace Bertie because we could never replace him – but for company and for new adventures (& for Ernie to play with!), does anyone have any other advice for helping pooches get over grief?”

Away from This Morning, Daisy tends to keep her personal life private and it is not known whether the star is in a relationship, or what her current estimated net worth is.

However, it is known that the star lives in the Cotswalds where she founded her Masterclass brand Garden to Garnish, with Daisy saying on her website: “My love of gardening and growing all started when I said goodbye to London’s city life and created a new chapter here in the Cotswalds.

She added: “Garden to Garnish is all about inspiring others to connect with gardens and growing.”

Tragic loss

Daisy Payne revealed last year that gardening during the pandemic helped her to deal with the tragic loss of a close family member.

The star took up gardening as a way to cope with the death of her grandfather, telling OK! Magazine: “I took on my allotment in early 2020 having been on the waiting list for two years. It felt like forever!

“I took it on just before the first lockdown and shortly after sadly my grandpa died from COVID.”

She added: “I honestly have no idea how I’d have got through the grief without my allotment.

“Having the allotment and connecting with nature helped me manage my mental health through that really difficult period of time.”

This Morning ‘wind up’

Along with hosting Masterclasses under her brand Garden To Garnish, Daisy Payne has become a familiar face on our TV screens, after joining ITV daytime talkshow This Morning as their resident gardening expert.

However, having only posted gardening tips and tutorials on her YouTube channel and social media pages, Daisy Payne thought the original invitation to appear on This Morning was a wind-up.

“An email came in from the producers of the show. I mean, as if!?” Daisy told OK! Magazine.

“I thought it could have been a joke or a wind up, because that sort of thing just doesn’t happen right!? Now here we are.”

During the same interview, the star also gushed about presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who she described as “warm and welcoming,” and called Alison Hammond and Dermott O’Leary a “great double act.”

Bra confession

Daisy Payne recently confessed that she does not wear a bra on her This Morning gardening segments, and wants to follow in the footsteps of her gardening hero Charlie Dimmock.

She revealed to The Sun: “That was the thing in lockdown — we didn’t have to wear a bra and it was lovely. But now I have to go back into society and I am like: ‘Oh God, I am going to have to wear a bra now.’

Talking about Groundforce icon Charlie Dimmock, Daisy added: “Charlie is amazing and she is still doing so much brilliant stuff as well. I think gardening is getting more diverse. Charlie Dimmock 2.0 — I will take that.”

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV.
