TOWIE's Pete Wicks says he broke ribs and almost drowned after SAS stunt went wrong

Pete Wicks has been competing in the most recent series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and revealed he almost drowned during filming.

The hit Channel 4 show returned to screens on Sunday (September 4) and welcomed a new group of celebrities who prepared to take on a series of physical and mental challenges.

One of these included jumping out of a helicopter, but things went horribly wrong for the TOWIE star when he attempted the harrowing challenge.

The reality star launched out of the helicopter, only for his 25-pound backpack full of essentials to knock him out as he hit the water.

Pete was left with a broken rib while he floated face down in the water, leaving him scarily close to death as production staff screamed and rushed to help him.

Reflecting on the terrifying incident, the Essex lad told The Sun: “I got it wrong, I got it very wrong. I think my leg got a little bit caught in the bag and I went straight down onto the bag, knocked myself out and broke my ribs.”

He added: “I was unconscious in the water so I don’t really remember much, just the rescue swimmers coming to get me and they flicked me over and then said, ‘Oh, we need to get you in the boat’.

“I didn’t want to get in the boat because if you start something you have to finish it, so then I remember trying to swim back. We got to shore and then I realised, ‘f**k I’ve actually hurt myself here’.”

During Sunday night’s episode, all recruits were forced to fight each other in a savage task, described as “one of the most violent”.

Ahead of the fight, Pete shook his head and admitted he didn’t want to ‘”fight a woman,” as he was pit against Jennifer Ellison.

After the fight both recruits ended up in tears as Pete said: “I punched her in the back of the head,” before apologising to the actress.

Speaking to press ahead of the episode airing, Pete admitted: “I really didn’t want to do it, everyone was f**ked, it did really upset me.”
