'Tricky' Harry and Meghan drama 'can't distract' from Jubilee, Naga Munchetty told

Naga Munchetty revealed she was told to “be mindful” about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “not distracting” from the Platinum Jubilee.

The BBC star hosted BBC Breakfast live from Buckingham Palace on Thursday (June 2), where she spoke to the BBC’s royal correspondent Daniela Relph about the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

Naga asked the royal pundit about Harry and Meghan attending the Queen’s special event, which marks 70 years of Her Majesty’s service on the throne.

Daniela confirmed to viewers that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will appear at the Jubilee, will be staying at Windsor Palace, and will attend the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Thursday.

However, she admitted to Naga that the Harry and Meghan situation has been “tricky to navigate” ahead of the huge royal event.

Trooping the Colour is a historic British ceremony which sees regiments of the British Army march for the Queen, who is honoured with salutes, music and a Royal Air Force flypast.

Talking about Harry and Meghan Naga said: “I think it’s established that they will be here. Are they here? We’ve been told to be quite mindful of them not distracting from this event.”

Daniela replied: “Yes, that’s right. They are here. We had some clarity on the issue around Harry and Meghan from Buckingham Palace. They’re here. They’re going to be staying in Windsor, and they will be here for Trooping the Colour today.”

The royal expert explained the Sussex’s will not be at the forefront of the Trooping the Colour event – and that the issue has been “tricky to navigate”.

They will instead be part of a “wider royal party” watching on from a separate building and surrounded by other royals.

She said: “They’ll be part of a wider royal party that actually watches Trooping from a separate building. So they won’t be part of the big ceremony, but they will be there with other members of the royal family.”

The expert went on: “It’s been tricky to navigate, the Harry and Meghan issue, they are going to exist within the royal bubble when they’re here. They’re not going to be doing their own thing.”

She added that we can expect to see the couple “at least” two or three times over the weekend.
