Trigger Point viewers moan about 'terrible' and 'mumbly' sound quality of new ITV drama

Sunday night’s instalment of ITV’s new drama Trigger Point saw Lana (played by Vicky McClure) seek advice from a clinical psychologist to process her recent loss.

Although the storyline was as gripping as ever, one thing that fans couldn’t get a grip of was the “poor audio quality”.

Many viewers took to Twitter to discuss the poor quality of the sound, with one writing: “Having to keep putting the volume up this week as they mumble their way through the episode this week. #triggerpoint.”

Another then said: “The audio is terrible, I can actually hear some of this #TriggerPoint”

While a third person penned: “The pacing in this show is so bad, and the audio is so low. #triggerpoint.”

And a fourth said: “Have to turn the sound right up to hear what’s being said on #triggerpoint … which means when you forget to turn it back down for the adverts you get screamed at about insurance, hair dye and betting apps.”

Elsewhere in the episode, counter-terrorism officials believed that there was a link between the Progressive Alliance and the bombing campaign after the explosives squad is dispatched to a device targeting a radio station covering the impending by-election.

Episode five of the gritty drama came as fans speculated about the non-existent link between ITV’s Trigger Point and BBC police drama Line Of Duty.

Much to the dismay of fans, the two programmes are not linked, nor are they set in the same cinematic universe.

Vicky McClure who plays one of the lead characters in both programmes has spoken out about the similarities between the two shows she stars in.

The 38-year-old actor told Metro: “I’m not concerned in so much as this is what actors do. I have fallen into this genre.”

“I look at Lana and Kate and I don’t see them together as the same people at all.

“Not only with the way that Lana looks and the way we have designed that, her personality is very different.”

Episode six of Trigger Point will air next Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
