X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson has announced her engagement, just weeks after retiring from the music industry.
The I Hope Scouse songstress took to Twitter to announce the happy news, simply posting: “I am so happy to announce I am engaged to the love of my life. Dreams can come true!” with a row of wedding-based emojis.
Fans immediately flocked to the replies section to shower Rebecca with love, with one writing: “Awesome news! Many congrats to you and J!”
“I’m so happy for you!! Congratulations and all the best!” another posted, while a third chimed in: “Massive congratulations!”
Rebecca has been very quiet on her fiancé’s identity so far, but she has posted several loved-up snaps of the pair together – including a sweet photo for their engagement.
In the snap, Rebecca could be seen in a pale pink satin slip dress snuggled close to her man, who looked dapper seated beside her in a black suit jacket and tie paired with a white shirt.
She previously dated ex Karl Dures, with whom she shares two children – Lillie and Karl. The pair got together on holiday in Tenerife, but had known each other previously.
She is also mum to Arabella from another relationship.
Rebecca is also known for dating fellow X Factor star and One Direction member Zayn Malik.
Rebecca was 24 when the pair dated, while Zayn was 18 – an age-gap which sparked hurtful “scrutiny” for the pair.
Speaking retrospectively to Metro about their romance, Rebecca said: “I reacted and got really angry and upset and I was really hurt by some of the comments, but I think now I’m a bit older, I think I would have just ignored that a bit more and realised it’s just news. It’s just satisfying entertainment.
“At the time I found it really hard,” she added.
However, she hasn’t always looked positively on her relationship with Zayn, as she slammed him in 2016 for featuring his current partner Gigi Hadid in his music video.
Opening up to Daily Star, she explained: “What if you split up and then you’re haunted by that video!
“No, I couldn’t run that risk,” she added.
Rebecca couldn’t help the heartfelt confession as she admitted: “Mixing my love life with my career is something I don’t do.”
It comes just after Rebecca formally told Daily Star that she has made the decision to retire from music, explaining: “My final album will drop next year and will be a combination of songs I have written over the past 10 years.
“After my retirement, I will dedicate my time and energy into helping and nurturing emerging artists and fighting for better treatment.”
She added: “Nobody is more important than the creator, without the creators of music there are no independent or major labels!
“If songwriters are struggling to pay their rent the industry will naturally fail or evolve into something else as the current model is not sustainable.”
