Zara McDermott was quick to ask Instagram fans who will replace Love Island host Laura Whitmore.
The 25-year-old, questioned who would take over Laura’s role almost minutes after the bombshell news landed to confirm that the ITV presenter had decided to step down.
After this year’s series, Zara and her Made In Chelsea boyfriend Sam Thompson were hailed by fans for their running commentary of the show – with many online users requesting for the pair to host the programme.
With Laura’s post now available, Zara wasted no time with sparking a debate on her story among her own online followers.

Hailing the Irish TV star’s efforts, the former X Factor star penned: “Massive respect to you @thewhitmore a wonderful host with gorgeous energy!”
She added: “I wonder who will host it next though?”
Fans have been begging for Zara and her boyfriend Sam to host the show together, with one saying: “Hear me out but Sam Thompson would be hilarious as the new #LoveIsland host if they went with a male presenter.”
Another agreed: “Yess Sam and Zara should do it, Sam does aftersun and Zara goes in for the recouplings lol.”
On Monday, Laura, 37, announced that due to “conflicting projects” she could no longer be at the helm of the popular dating show
Laura had attempted to fill the massive void on the show following the tragic death of her dear friend Caroline Flack in February 2020.
Remembering Caroline and announcing her departure, she penned: “There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.
“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands.
Narrator Iain Stirling’s wife added: “I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series.
“I hope I did you proud Caroline.”
Following Laura’s own words, ITV responded with a follow up message, hailing the host for her support over the last two years.
The broadcasting giant penned: “Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series of the show.
“We are so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects.”
