One film dating back to 2005 has been declared the “most disturbing horror film of all time”.
According to UniLad, the film that tops the list of most horrific horrors is one that was banned in Ukraine and even debated in UK Parliament for its graphic content.
The film is, of course, Hostel and its associated sequels.

Set in Slovakia, the film follows three backpackers who are abducted, kidnapped and tortured by a mysterious organisation.
Some of the most gruesome scenes include graphic shots of people being chopped up by chainsaws and even a close-up shot of one of the men’s Achilles tendons snapping.
Unsurprisingly due to its setting, the film was heavily criticised in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, who were outraged by the film’s portrayal of their countries – and worried it would “damage their reputations”.
Director Eli Roth was even invited on an all-expenses paid trip to Slovakia by its tourist board to prove that it’s actually a far cry from how it is portrayed in the movie – with one Slovak MP stating: “I am offended by this film. I think that all Slovaks should feel offended.”
But Roth hit back: “Americans do not even know that this country exists. My film is not a geographical work but aims to show Americans’ ignorance of the world around them.”
Hostel grossed $82million worldwide on a shoestring budget, and birthed two sequels.
Hostel: Part II kicks off with three American art students on vacation in Slovakia, who are later kidnapped after checking into a hostel of their own.
This time, the film was banned in Germany and New Zealand – and, again, debated in UK Parliament, as “from beginning to end it depicts obscene, misogynistic acts of brutality against women”.

Hostel: Part III skipped the theatrical release altogether and went straight to DVD. This time, victims are kidnapped from Las Vegas rather than any European country.
One of the most visceral scenes sees protagonist Nikki suffocated when a jar full of cockroaches crawl into her mouth.
Meanwhile, her friend has his face entirely peeled off in a gruesome stunt performed by the Elite Hunting Club.
