Aaron Carter’s cause of death revealed after singer was found ‘unconscious in bathtub’

An autopsy report has outlined Aaron Carter’s cause of death after the singer was found dead in the bathtub.

The American singer and teen rapper, who came to fame as a teen pop star in the late 1990s, died aged 34 on November 5, 2022.

A report by Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed that Aaron drowned in the bath after taking alprazolam, a generic version of Xanax, and inhaling compressed difluoromethane.

The report, obtained by TMZ, states that Aaron became “incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects” of the drugs, which led to him slipping underneath the water and drowning.

When the news of Aaron’s passing broke, police reports highlighted that “prescription pills and cans of compressed air were found in his home” in Lancaster, California.

The manner of death was ruled an “accident,” according to the coroner.

“Paramedics were called to the location, and Mr Carter was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:14 a.m. He was 34.”

The Medical Examiner’s office added: “After the scene investigation, Mr Carter’s body was transported to the department’s Forensic Science Center for examination.”

Aaron is survived by his one-year-old son, Prince, whom he shared with his fiancée, Melanie Martin.

Before his passing, Aaron had a public drug addiction.

He previously confessed that his sister Leslie, who died from an overdose in 2012, introduced him to huffing – the practice of inhaling fumes from household items.

Aaron is the younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter and came to fame at age nine after releasing his self-titled debut album in 1997.

Following the news of his death, Aaron said on social media: “My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded.”

Adding: But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know.”
