The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organises the Oscars every year, decided to ban Will Smith after the “slapgate” incident.
In case you missed it, Will Smith walked on stage and slapped host Chris Rock across the face.
Will’s response was due to a joke that Chris made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Will was subsequently banned from all Academy events for 10 years.

However Will isn’t the only star to have been banned from the Academy, other celebrities join him on the banned list.
Here at Daily Star we have decided to take a looked at the Oscars banned list and the reasons for their suspension.
Harvey Weinstein
Harvey Weinstein, famous producer, was banned from the Oscars after several allegations of sexual assault and harassment rose against him in 2017 during the #MeToo movement.
Harvey did not have his Academy awards revoked but he did lose the ability to be able to return to the award ceremony.
The Academy labelled his actions “repugnant, abhorrent, and antithetical to the high standards of the Academy and the creative community it represents.”
Roman Polanski
Roman Polanski, famous filmmaker, was expelled from the Oscars in 2018.
It was more than 40 years after he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl.
He had plied her with champagne and Quaaludes during a photoshoot.
To this day he remains a fugitive after he fled the country after pleading guilty to unlawful sex with a minor.
Bill Cosby
Bill Cosby, famous for the Cosby Show, was banned from the Oscars at the same time as Roman Polanski.
Bill was convicted in 2018 of three counts of aggravated indecent assault.
He served three years of a 10-year sentence in prison before he was released but is still banned from the Academy in accordance with the organisation’s Standards of Conduct.
Carmine Caridi
Carmine Cardi, who was famous for his starring role in the Godfather, was banned from the Oscars in 2004.
The star was found to be making VCR copies of films and sharing them, making him the first celebrity to have ever been banned from the ceremony.
