Amanda Holden was drawn to her new TV role as she was told she could wear “wigs and corsets”.
During the screen for Sky HISTORY’s Sex: A Bonkers History which took place at the Hamyard Hotel last night (September 12), Amanda discussed her time on the show.
In the new series, Amanda can be seen dressing up as the world’s royalty as they discussed past periods of sexual appetite.

Amanda said: “One of the reasons I took the gig was so I could wear wigs and corsets. It was so much fun…
“I loved learning about the Spartans with the wafty outfits and the javelin throwing but it was filmed in Crystal Palace.

“They told me it was going to be somewhere much more exotic, then they took me down to Crystal Palace, it was November I put that toga on, and it was from ASOS.”
She later added: “Did I take any of the wigs home? I have Queen Charlotte’s wig in my loft and that’s not even a euphemism.”
Amanda co-hosted the show with TV historian Dan Jones who was left hurt after filming one day.
For research purposes, the pair went to see a dominatrix who actually caused pain to Dan during the scene.

But things weren’t all smooth sailing as when they paid a visit to a dominatrix, for research purposes, Dan was left hurt.
Amanda explained: “We’re both parents and there was just one afternoon where we were talking to this dominatrix and it was primarily for me the scene and we decided that we needed Dan as we needed a subject for the lady.
“And ironically we’re at the Freud Museum, which is Freud’s actual house in Hampstead where he used to live, it’s a lovely bit of real estate, it’s waste as a museum.”
She continued: “Anyway, poor Dan comes in, and we’re both clock-watching because I was doing the school run and he was doing the school run.

“Well, this lady came in and we thought it was just a telly thing. Anyway, she gets her flipping cat of nine tails out as a whip and it really hurt him. And I was like Ninja and I was like, ‘c’mon’.
“Anyways, that was that was an interesting afternoon, he leaped into the playground picking up one of his children.”
Dan interjected: “Yeah, ‘How was work today, Dad?’ Well, I went to see a dominatrix with Amanda Holden, got whipped and Amanda got protective, then I went home.”
