A series of Amish and Mennonite women looked completely unrecognisable as they tried on skimpy bikinis for the first time ever.
Stars of TLC reality show Return to Amish decided to try on ‘English’ – that’s anything outside of the traditional Amish community – swimwear for the first time before heading over to the beach.
One episode showed Mennonite gal Dawn explain: “Mennonites are pretty similar to Amish, but we can wear nicer clothes. I can wear patterns on my dress.”

She and co-star Shelly headed to browse for some swimwear, as Shelly explained: “Everything I’ve ever been told growing up Mennonite is that showing any skin is sinful. It creates lust in a man’s heart.
“I can’t even begin to imagine what the people back home would think if they saw me with a bikini on.”
While Dawn opted for a neon orange bikini, Shelly went for a blue floral design, while some of the Mennonite boys tried on swimming trunks and Speedos.
Dawn then tried on a very skimpy cut-out swimsuit as she explained: “As a Mennonite, we don’t watch TV, we don’t swim. So I’ve never seen a man other than my husband with so little on… and I didn’t hate it!”
Another episode saw one Amish woman left in floods of tears as she tried on a two-piece for the first time.
Rosanna Miller headed to the store with her boyfriend Johnny Detweiler and pals Jethro Nolt and Fannie Schmucker.
When she emerged wearing a teeny scarlet two-piece, Rosanna was left in tears with her traditional bonnet still atop her head, as Jethro whooped.
But her boyfriend Johnny wasn’t impressed, with his pal Kenneth explaining: “I get it. I wouldn’t want my girlfriend dressed like that in front of other men.”
While Jeremiah said: “An Amish man wants his woman to stay covered up. So naturally, Johnny being an Amish guy, you know, his woman coming out in front of everybody wearing a bathing suit… obviously he’s going to be upset.”

Johnny said it was “too much” seeing Rosanna in a bikini, adding: “That’s not who I want to be with. That’s not what I want.”
It didn’t stop Rosanna, however, as she later convinced her pal Maureen to join her in looking for the perfect swimsuit.
Even their grandmother Ada was convinced to try on a bright coral one-piece – admitting she was “so nervous”.
She said: “If the bishop were to find out we all bought swimsuits, we would all get shunned. The Amish don’t show their skin like that.”
