Antiques Roadshow viewers have been stunned by the value of a vintage doll they labelled as “creepy” and “spooky”.
The programme, which was filmed at Belmont House outside Faversham, saw a whole host of antiques and collectables brought in for experts to value and explain the history of one collectable and well-loved family item was a French porcelain doll, affectionately named Lady Eleanor.
The doll, who came complete with petticoats and a bonnet, caught the eye of viewers even before the true value was revealed.

As soon as the doll appeared, one viewer tweeted: “Creepy doll klaxon!”
Another agreed, as they wrote: “Spooky doll time.”
“Dolls are scary,” shared another.
One viewer was particularly against the much loved doll, as they wrote: “Cursed object, only clown dolls are worse.”
Valued by expert Bunny Campione, she explained the history of the doll. She shared: “I think this is the best dressed doll I’ve come across for a very long time. Did you play with her?”
After the owner revealed she had belonged to her mother and her great-grandmother before her, Campione then highlighted the delicate detail of the doll including a mohair wig, leather shoes and Parisian style petticoats and dress.
She explained: “What’s so lovely about her is that she has a French body. French body means that it’s a wonderful kid leather. She was a very expensive doll in her time. She was probably made in Paris.
“I think she’s one of the earliest 1860s and her shoes – Look at her shoes! It’s amazing. She’s even got heels! She is wonderful. She’s got what we call mohair wig, which is actually a mountain goat.”
Coming to the all important valuation, Campione shocked the doll’s owner as she summed up: “I’m going to stick my neck out because I think I can see her making as much as £2000.”
After the whopping price tag was revealed, some viewers couldn’t get over the true value of the doll. One viewer tweeted in response: “£2k. Christ on a bike…”.
Another simply wrote: “Wow.”
Antique Roadshow returns to BBC One on Sundays at 8pm
