Antiques Roadshow viewers were flabbergasted as a woman was told that her “ugly” bird ornament could fetch a staggering £70,000 if it had been intact.
The lady took the bird, named Ernie, onto the BBC show with her daughter, who admitted she’d been “terrified” of it when she was younger and that it would make her cry.
Even expert Steven Moore said it had “a face only a mother could love”.

However, he had their jaws dropping when he told them that the bird’s head alone could be worth a whopping £4,000.
He told the pair that the bird’s head and body didn’t seem to match, and that it could go for a seriously tidy sum if they found the other parts.
“They are very collectible,” he said.
“There is an intriguing possibility. If you could find the head for this body, or if you could find the body for this head, you would have a profit of £60,000 to £70,000.
“That’s how much the two separate items would be if they were complete.”
The owners looked stunned, gasping as they heard what Ernie could be worth.
Viewers were equally shocked by the surprising news, not least because they didn’t warm to the odd looking ornament.
“Generally speaking, I love Martin Bros’ Wally Birds, but gee,” tweeted one.
“That’s ugly.”
“Haunted bird head – kill it with fire!” posted someone else who apparently wasn’t a fan either.
Someone else quipped that it reminded them of Angry Birds.
“What a horrible looking ornament Ernie is,” said another viewer.
Expressing their shock over the price tag, one person tweeted: “£4K just for the head!”
Another chimed in: “Who, in their right mind, would spend £70k on a bit of pottery?”
