BBC Breakfast Carol Kirkwood snaps at Charlie 'cutting into her time' in awkward clash

BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood snapped back at her co-star Charlie Stayt after she was forced to cut her weather report short.

During Thursday’s visit to the BBC One studios, the 60-year-old broadcaster and his co-host Naga Munchetty woke up the nation on the beloved breakfast programme.

She concluded the first half of her report saying: “I’ll bring you the rest of the Easter Weekend forecast in about half an hour, but Naga and Charlie, back to you.”

It was at this point that Charlie set his timer, cheekily adding: “Alright, we’ll see you in half an hour then. I’ll set the clocks now, half an hour.

Sensing the tension on set, Naga reassured him: “She wasn’t threatening you, you know, she was just informing you.”

But things quickly turned frosty on the show after the dad-of-two demanded the meteorologist finish her report.

He argued: “We’ve come to you for weather information. If you’ve got something to tell us, just tell us.”

However, the weather woman, also 60, was quick to hit back at her fellow broadcaster as she stood her ground.

She snapped back with: “I have a finite amount of time, Charlie, to bring you weather but it will be a longer one in the next half hour – depending on how long you speak, of course.

“If you overrun that cuts my time, so can you keep it brief please?” she added.

It was at this point that Naga took a deep breath in shock from the side lines as the TV presenter struggled to find the words to respond.

He concluded with: “Usually that’s the director who’s saying that but it Carol today, are we just ganging up?” to which Naga reminded him: “You don’t listen to her either.”

Half an hour later, Charlie begrudgingly introduced her “special extended edition” of her morning weather report.

But it appeared as though Carol was still disgruntled by their on-air spat as she informed viewers: “You’ll never believe this, Charlie, I’ve been cut so I’m going to carry on very briefly. “

Luckily, the pair managed to put their awkward argument behind them after the weather report as Naga and Charlie softly moved on with the show.
