BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent cheekily says ‘go on then’ after early tipple offer

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent was not afraid to share how she really felt after her co-star Ben Thompson suggested an early morning tipple.

The 52-year-old was back on the famous red sofa alongside Ben to deliver the latest news headlines from the UK and across the globe. But the pair were also quick to highlight that they are often left confused by what day it is due to it being the week of Christmas.

Ben then said “anything goes” and “one needs to know” what day it is between Christmas and New Year. He said: “It’s the week where anything goes. If you want a glass of wine at 11am, you can!”

Sally replied enthusiastically: “Go on then!” Pushing the boat out even further Ben then suggested that Sally could have an alcoholic beverage at twenty minutes to eight but this time, Sally said it might be a bit too early.

Sally Nugent didn’t mind an early morning tipple

The news comes after news reader Sally recently took part in the Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing. The presenter was partnered with Graziano di Prima for the one-off episode and danced the Foxtrot.

Sharing clips from her spectacular routine on Instagram, Sally wrote: “Thank you @grazianodiprima for your endless kindness and patience. And for making me brave enough to get on that stage. I don’t know how you did it.

Ben Thompson suggested having a drink even earlier

“Thank you to my amazing friends who battled broken down cars, cancelled trains and early shifts to be there in the room. And to everyone cheering from home. I definitely felt the love”

“And thank you @rob7lindsey for the words of encouragement at the last minute that made me feel brave. Very happy to hang up my dancing shoes now. It doesn’t ever get better than a 10 from Shirley x.”

Meanwhile, Graziano, who was partnered with Love Island star Zara McDermott during this year’s competition also sang Sally’s praises. Talking to the BBC he said: You’ve been incredible. For the first time in my job, I’ve found a person who has made me realise how lucky I am to do this job and be dancing.

“It’s more than just the dance. It’s the friendship first and it’s been something that audiences can just enjoy, and the dance and the beauty of Christmas.”
