BBC Dragons' Den viewers say same thing as Deborah Meaden grills 'petrified' candidate

Dragons’ Den viewers were not impressed as they watched Deborah Meaden grill a “really nervous” and “petrified” candidate.

In Thursday’s (March 23) episode of the BBC One show, Caroline Sims was hoping to bag some serious cash for her plant-based supplement brand business.

The contestant was looking for £60,00 for 10% equity in her business called Botanycl.

Despite admitting she was nervous before walking into the den, Caroline managed to work her way through her pitch flawlessly.

However, when it came to the dragon’s critiques, Deborah didn’t hold back and quizzed the budding entrepreneur on her plant-based skincare and health supplement brand.

Caroline admitted she was ‘petrified’

“Erm,” Deborah began while picking up and looking at the product.

“This makes me feel uneasy,” she said.

“You have a big issue making this product stand out from all of the others.”

So, I’m not going to be your champion, and I’m out,” proclaimed the dragon.

And it didn’t take long for viewers to call out the dragon, with one writing: “Wow, bit harsh Deborah.”

Deborah soon chimed in and shared her thoughts

Another person added: “Deborah has spotted a problem.”

“I feel so sorry for Caroline right now,” proclaimed someone else.

Things started to go up for Caroline when Peter Jones chimed in to say how much he loved the business.

“I can open any door for any retailer in the world for you,” he said, before offering all of the money for 25% of the business.

The contestant got offers from four Dragons

Similarly, fellow dragon Stephen also offered 20% for the £60k and Sara did too – proposing £60k for 15%.

In the end, Peter and Stephen joined up to share the deal at 12.5% each – leaving her over the moon with the offer.

Caroline walked away with the £60k in exchange for a total of 25%, and dropping to 20% if the duo get their money back in 18 months.

“I did not expect four out of the five dragons,” she said in her post-pitch interview.
