BBC Strictly Come Dancing icons ‘tipped to return’ as Giovanni Pernice sparks exit fears

A slew of iconic Strictly Come Dancing stars |have been tipped” to return to show amid concerns from fans that Giovanni Pernice could be leaving.

The Italian pro made his debut on the glitzy BBC One show back in 2015. Since then, he’s been a regular on the dance floor, showing off his best moves.

Over the years, Giovanni has been partnered with celebs like Georgia May Foote, Laura Whitmore and Richie Anderson. He was even crowned champ in 2021, alongside Rose Ayling-Ellis.

For this year’s series, Giovanni teamed up with actress Amanda Abbington. And it’s fair to say the pair set the dance floor on fire at the start of the commotion.

However last month, Amanda dramatically quit the show. Her exit meant that Giovanni was also eliminated from the competition. Since then, fans have been worried that Giovanni could be leaving the dancing show. Even Giovanni’s former Strictly colleague claimed he could say his goodbye.

Speaking on behalf of Betway Slots, dancer Joanna Clifton hinted at his potential exit. She noted how he could “follow in the footsteps” of co-star Anton Du Beke.

She revealed: “Many of us would like to have a go at judging. I completely get why Anton wanted to. I can see Giovanni Pernice going for it in a couple of years’ time.”

Now it’s been claimed if Giovanni did say goodbye to Strictly, bosses would not be short of options on who could replace him. And fans would be in for a treat.

Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent “creative” tools Bard AI to see who could replace Giovanni if he was to quit Strictly. The program responded: “There are a number of professional dancers who could potentially take his place.”

Bard AI explained: “One possibility is that the BBC would choose to promote one of the existing professional dancers, such as Neil Jones. These dancers are all experienced and talented, and they have a strong following among Strictly fans.”

The program also claimed that previous pro dancers on the show that have quit, could actually come back – in a shock move. Bard AI listed Aljaž Škorjanec as an example.

“He is a fan favourite and has a reputation for being a good partner to his celebrity contestants. He has reached the final of the show twice, in 2015 and 2017.”

The system also said Kevin Clifton would be another possibility. It said: “He is an English dancer who has been with Strictly since 2013. He is also a fan favourite and has a reputation for being a versatile dancer. He has reached the final of the show three times, in 2015, 2016, and 2018.”

The system also noted another possibility is that the BBC could “bring in a new professional dancer from abroad.” It said: “This has happened in the past, with dancers such as Artem Chigvintsev, Gleb Savchenko, and Nancy Xu joining the show in recent years. There are a number of talented foreign dancers who could potentially join the Strictly cast, and this would bring a fresh perspective to the show.”
