Below Deck under fire for ‘covering up sexual misconduct’ and ‘no alcohol limit’

Below Deck has come under fire for allegedly covering up sexual misconduct on board.

Production member Samantha Suarez spoke to Rolling Stone about Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King, who she claims attempted to force himself on her while they were filming in Sardinia back in 2022.

Samantha told Rolling Stone that crew all stayed in the same hotel, while the cast joined them prior to their charter trips and when they weren’t filming.

One day in July, Suarez’s job was to escort King back to his hotel room after filming due to Covid protocol, where Samantha says he consumed a lot of alcohol.

She said: “There is no limit to alcohol consumption whatsoever, which I think poses a really big problem.”

The crew member said King was “behaving erratically” as she tried to “contain him and keep him inside his room”.

Gary then reportedly asked Samantha not to leave and she joked that she would “sit outside of his door to make sure he wouldn’t leave”.

Rolling Stone then reported: “According to Suarez, King then suggested she get in bed with him and repeatedly asked her not to leave his room, even though she says he was aware that she was in a relationship with someone else.”

Samantha later returned with snacks and water: “She knocked on the door and King answered the door in his underwear. She says she asked King to take the case of water out of her hands and he continued to ask her not to leave his hotel room.”

Rolling Stone reported: “King came up behind her, grabbed her, pressed her against his body, and refused to let go of her even though she says she tried to kick and elbow him to get off her.”

Samantha says “she immediately told producers what happened following the incident” and people high up were made aware of the incident.

However, Suarez claims that later in the season, a HR representative “asked her not to talk about the incident with the crew”.

They also allegedly told her it appeared she was “trying to rally the troops” against Below Deck.
