Big Brother nun Anna Nolan unrecognisable 23 years after Channel 4 show stint

Big Brother star Anna Nolan looks completely different over decades since leaving the famous house.

It’s been 23 years since the housemate became the first runner-up on the reality show, losing out to winner Craig Phillips back in 2000. At the time, the former nun was working as a office manager but became one of the first people to take part in the social expierment.

She was cooped up in what was then a tiny compound compared to later incarnations of house, with the likes of Craig, Darren Ramsay, Melanie Hill, some chickens and of course, ‘Nasty’ Nick Bateman. Anna is now head of development at one of Ireland’s leading TV production companies, chair of the National LGBT federation and boasts over 10,000 followers on Twitter.

She also presented several TV shows including BBC’s Anna in Wonderland, Closure and Inside Out. She recently shared some selfies while soaking up the Edinburgh Fringe festival, looking absolutely incredible with a fab silver quiff.

Taking a front seat at the Edinburgh TV Festival for a panel discussing the upcoming Big Brother revival on ITV2, she joked: |Oh god. It’s back.” Long after the first series of Big Brother, host Davina McCall later admitted that Anna was the only housemate who actually became a genuine friend and picked her as her number one contestant ever.

The presenter told the News Of The World at the time: “I liked Anna right from the start, because she was just the sort of person I knew I’d want as a friend – a really solid person. I had a lot of admiration for her, which grew throughout the show.”

After five years off screen, Big Brother will be returning on ITV2 and ITVX this weekend with AJ Odudu and Will Best as hosts and Marcus Bentley back as narrator. Show bosses have already committed to two series of the trail-blazing reality show and hinted Celebrity Big Brother could be be returning too.

Speaking out about their new roles ahead of the launch show on Sunday (October 8), AJ told Daily Star and other press: “The pressure is on, it’s a big show, it’s everyone’s baby. We all grew up watching it but then there’s a whole new audience that we want to bring along on the ride as well. And also it’s had previous presenters who both Will and I both love, adore and respect, they’re the nation’s sweethearts, and we want to do everyone proud.

“So yeah, while the pressure is on and that can be very daunting, it’s definitely counter-balanced by the fact that I’m presenting alongside Will. He’s really good at his job and I’ll be in safe hands with him and vice versa, so I’m actually more excited than nervous for sure.”

“I definitely want to be myself and Will wants to be himself, we’re not trying to mimic or imitate previous presenters that have been before. But it’s really nice when you have a lot of good will and positive energy on your side for sure.”

Big Brother: The Launch airs Sunday, October 9 on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
