Soaps are no stranger to an illegitimate love child, a surprise bun in the oven and even deliberate entrapment.
Some of the storylines in recent years featuring bombshell babies are certainly not for the faint-hearted.
From both a mistress and a wife being pregnant at the same time to a mother bedding her daughter’s beau, the UK’s soaps do not disappoint.

So here are our favourite explosive baby-based storylines that have resulted in a new – but not always planned – addition to the family.
Oliver Battersby – Coronation Street
Heart-wrenching scenes abounded when Steve McDonald ended up bedding Leanne Tilsley and inevitably got her pregnant.
Simultaneously though, Steve’s wife Michelle was also expecting but tragically lost their baby boy, Ruairi.
So when Leanne gave birth to little Oliver, Steve was dying to tell the world it was his son.
And that, of course, didn’t go down so well.
Miley Windass – Coronation Street
When schoolgirl Faye Windass got pregnant by fellow teen Jackson Hodge she was so distressed she kept it a total secret.
But before long it was obvious the 13-year-old was expecting a baby.
Once Faye had given birth to her daughter, Miley, she couldn’t cope so decided to give her up for adoption. However, it was decided the tot would go to Jackson’s family – who later secretly moved to Canada.
Further upsetting scenes were aired last year when she found out she was suffering from early menopause and would not be able to have any more children.
Bethany Platt – Coronation Street
Corrie spun another very young teen pregnancy with Sarah Platt – also just 13 when she found out she was expecting.
The dad was fellow student Neil Fearns and Sarah, daughter of Gail and Martin Platt, was five months along when she found out the life-changing news.
At the time in 2000, it was one of the most sensational storylines to hit the Cobbles.
When Bethany was just three Neil was killed in a car crash and after his funeral, Sarah became close to his mum.
But more drama ensued after Neil’s mother Brenda became unstable, kidnapped Bethany and tried to commit a murder-suicide.
Raymond Dawkins – EastEnders
Raymond is the son of Denise Fox and Phil Mitchell and was born in 2017 after a boozy one-night stand.
Denise kept the pregnancy a secret but Phil’s wife found out about it after overhearing Denise sharing that Phil was the dad.
Because Denise was initially unable to care for the tot, he was adopted by Jonah and Lydia Dawkins.
The couple later tragically died in a car crash and he was later handed back to his biological mum, Denise and her husband, Jack Branning.
Lexi Pearce – EastEnders
Another drunken romp in Walford resulted in a baby. After Lola Pearce and Ben Michell got down and dirty, baby Lexi was born.
Lola denied that Ben was the dad – but this ended up with Abi Branning and Jay Brown splitting up.
Ben eventually discovered that Lexi was his but not before Phil Mitchell, Ben’s dad, tried to get custody of her.
Kyle Wyatt – Emmerdale
This storyline was also going to be dramatic with Cain Dingle and Amy Wyatt at the centre.
After a one-night stand ended up in Amy’s pregnancy, Cain wanted her to have an abortion.
But she decided to keep the baby and Amy gave birth in a graveyard and then left Kyle in a phone box.
Kyle was later adopted, but his adoptive parents tragically died.
Moses Dingle – Emmerdale
This is a particularly seedy storyline. Charity wanted to stay out of the nick and in her mind, the best way was to get pregnant.
By none the than her daughter’s other half, Ross Barton.
While Ross was seemingly keen to get the party started, he didn’t want the responsibility of a kid.
But tough, because after little Moses came into the world Charity wasn’t interested and he ended up in the care of the Dingles.
