Busted tease massive 20th anniversary reunion as fans go wild over cryptic video

Chart-topping band Busted have sent their fans into a frenzy with a cryptic video teasing a huge 20th anniversary reunion.

The trio, consisting of Charlie Simpson, James Bourne and Matt Willis, shot to fame in 2002 thanks to their smash hits like What I Go To School For and Year 3000.

Then in 2005, with just two albums and 10 singles under their belt, the boys announced they were splitting up – leaving the nation reeling.

However, the pop punk band reunited in 2015 – ten years after their split – for four years before going on hiatus again.

But it seems the boys are back at their old tricks after they teased that a big announcement is coming this Thursday (March 23).

Taking to their Instagram on Tuesday (March 21) the band uploaded a short clip of someone putting an old-school videotape inside a chunky Phillips TV.

The band’s iconic red logo then flashed on the screen before it cut to black.

They captioned the cryptic post: “23/03/23 followed by a hashtag of Busted20.”

It didn’t take long for Busted’s loyal fans to flood the comments section with excitement over the upcoming news.

Sharing their thoughts on the announcement, one smitten follower pondered: “I hope this is a new album I can hear!!”

Another added: “I’m gonna cry,” while a third proclaimed: “Please be a tour!”

“OKAAAYYYY what’s going on here???” said someone else.

A fifth chimed in: “I actually won’t cope if they get back together.”

Charlie recently told Daily Star that there were big plans in place for the band to come back to celebrate 20 years.

He said: “We are talking about doing some Busted stuff. There are some big plans, that conversation is ongoing – it’s our 20th anniversary this year.”

Busted released their first album in 2002 but it peaked at number 2 in January 2003 and their success went from strength to strength afterwards.

Their debut album included the likes of What I Go To School For and You Said No, whereas their second album, released in 2003, included hits Air Hostess and Crashed The Wedding.

The potential comeback follows Charlie’s success on The Masked Singer which saw him win the ITV show as Rhino.
